Sam started running Stitch Clubs in 2008 working from Harrow Arts Centre and schools including St Helen’s in Northwood. We now have our own well stocked, cosy Stitch Studio in central Pinner, North-West London which enables us to be flexible and creative with everyone who comes along. We are also able to design collaborative workshops and activities for a different location. The central premise is that:

Stitch Club is a safe place to experiment, to make mistakes and to Be Creative

We are not just about learning how to sew on a button and mend a seam – we support you to design, plan and create; guiding you through the process of making your idea into a real thing. All important life skills.

Early in the running of Stitch Clubs, Sam realised that spending time making and creating, especially in small groups, has a special resonance that supports and develops well-being. As a result, she trained in the practice of using Art as a Therapy with Bath Spa University and Juli Beatie’s The Art Room and continues to develop this knowledge. This learning is a vital part of how we approach our sessions.

Most classes are run by Sam Harvey, a practising textile artist who has been stitching and making things for as long as she can remember and Christina Verden runs the dressmaking clubs.

Stitch Club collaborates with talented artists and designers who share Sam’s enthusiasm for sharing not only practical skills, but also the fun and satisfaction that comes from creating.

Clubs and workshops are usually run from our dedicated Stitch Club studio, but if you are interested in running a workshop at your school, community centre or workplace, let us know and we will see what can be done.

Email Sam at sam@stitch.club if you would like to join one of our Workshops or Stitch Clubs. Join our mailing list at the bottom of this page if you would like to find out about workshops and events by newsletter.
